Liquid Pretreatments
Hyde's Termite and Pest control offers conventional liquid pretreatment on crawl space, basement and slab construction.
Crawl Space (Homes with Wooden Floors)
Normally 2-3 trips are necessary. The block foundation, all adjacent dirt fills and the backfilled soil that is applied to the outside foundation must be treated. The foundation must be treated prior to any wood being placed on top of the block foundation. Soil treatment under slabs such as garages, carports, driveways, sidewalks and dirt filled porches or concrete patios must also be performed.
Contractors or builders may call for treatment after the crawl space area has been graded and prior to the vapor barrier being installed or concrete being poured. Once the house is complete and the outside foundation has been backfilled, the final perimeter treatment must be performed.
Basements
Once the basement walls have been poured, the soil beneath the basement's concrete floor must be treated before the concrete is poured. The dirt and gravel fill must be on grade and all plumbing must be installed prior to the termite soil treatment. DO NOT apply the vapor barrier (plastic paper) before the soil treatment has been completed.
If any dirt filled slabs such as garages, carports, dirt filled porches or ground slabs are going to be attached to the property, these areas also must be pre-treated prior to pouring the concrete.
Once the outside basement walls have been back filled, then the final perimeter treatment can be completed.
Slabs (Structures with Concrete Floors)
The soil underneath all concrete floors must be treated prior to pouring the concrete, including all attached garages, carports, porches and ground slabs. Upon the installation and leveling of foundation blocks, fill dirt, and plumbing, it is time to perform pre-treatment on the soil. Remember, DO NOT put the vapor barrier down until after the termite soil pretreatment has been performed.
After the building has had the soil treated underneath all slab areas, you are finished until the dirt around the foundation is backfilled. A perimeter treatment is required to complete the soil treatment.
** Please note in some cases the Pest Control Operator will need to make multiple trips to ensure all areas are treated. All areas must be treated to obtain protection against termite infestation.**
